You’ve Moved….Now What?
Moving is over and there is one less stress…well maybe. Now What?
First make sure all your utilities are up and running, including your gas, water and electric. Make sure to have services turned on and transferred to your name. If there was a gap in tenants nothing can be turned on, so make sure to check first!
Get to know your home
Locate anything important including water shut off, fuze boxes, or gas shut off. Knowing where these are in case of an emergency is important. Even though you are just moving in, take the time to get to know your surroundings just in case is important.
There are boxes and more boxes throughout your new home. Before unpacking boxes that are not everyday. Located the boxes that have the essentials inside. Unpack whatever you feel needs to be unpacked first. It could be the kitchen, your office, your bedroom to make everything start to feel like home. What you unpack first might include your coffee maker or your favorite book to unwind. This will help you feel more at home and then you can tackle those boxes that you didn’t even want to pack.
Personal Documents/Medical Records
Don’t forget to start using your new address and make sure to update all the important documents including: drivers license, car registration, doctors, the post office. Being proactive will make the process easier and it won’t be as stressful. This helps to learn your new address faster as well.
Sticking to the basics after moving will help start the process of everything that is attached with moving. Taking it slow and doing everything correctly will help you to stay organized.
