Don’t use newspapers for wrapping fine china

Recently we unloading a rental truck our customer had an unusual problem. She had used regular newspaper to wrap her fine china and collectibles. When she unwrapped her good dishes some had text from the newsprint on then.

While newspaper is great for protecting dishes from breaking, it is also good for staining porcelain. Think of it this way. Have you ever read a newspaper and noticed your hands had black powder on them? That is the same substance that stains your dishes.

If you have dishes that can be scrubbed, it will easily come off. Collectibles and fine porcelain are not so easy to clean. The best way to pack your fragile items is to use plain packing paper. It is basically newspaper without any printing or ink on it.

If you need help with any packing or moving questions, feel free to ask by leaving a comment.
