moving insurance Our Insurance CoverageMany moving companies only provide Released Valuation, which is required by federal law. This is coverage that all moving companies must provide at no cost to you. Released valuation is basically a default payout of $0.60/lb per item, it is not based on value. For example, if your LCD TV weight 40lbs and is broken the movers only pay $24.00 in damages.

As a courtesy to our customers. In addition to the required, released valuation coverage, we provide full value insurance at no additional charge.

This is how it reads in our contracts.

4WH is not responsible for damage to items while not in our possession, not properly boxed or fully disassembled and any made of particle board.
and
Damaged items will be repaired or replaced at our discretion with items of like kind and quality. Claims are figured at replacement value minus a $200 deductible. 4WeHelp Cincinnati Movers reserves the right to use reasonable standards to verify any claim.

Because 4WeHelp Cincinnati Movers do not drive your rental truck or moving container, we cannot be responsible for any damage once out of our possession. Our coverage does not extend to items once they leave the loading location, as the items are out of our control.

If an item is damaged on site, please notify the crew leader immediately.  Our office will contact you with instructions on repair or replacement of your items. If you have pictures those can expedite the claim.

Examples of mistakes customers make that will cause an exclusion or exception to customer:

  • If a customer fails to provide adequate furniture pads during a load no claims are excepted. Furniture pads are necessary to properly load a truck and prevent damage. Pads are not provided by our movers unless we are also providing the truck or you purchase them from us in advance of your moving day. We recommend at least 2 moving pads for every 1 foot of moving truck. For example, a 26″ truck needs at LEAST 50 moving pads.
  • Poor packing or failure to pack fragile and valuable items with proper protections such as bubble wrap.
  • Older boxes being reused that no longer hold their rigidity and structure.
  • Boxes that are not properly closed and taped on both their top and bottom.
  • Furniture that is not emptied of its contents.
  • Art work, objects of art, posterboard, stretched canvas, mirrors, marble, glass or ceramic items not packed in a properly sized box.
  • DLP, LCD and Plasma TV’s that are not in the original box with proper spacers or a box specifically designed for their protection.
  • Press board or particle board that is not fully disassembled- Examples being the furniture that you buy in a box and assemble yourself such as Sauder desks or Ikea furniture.
